The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, live audio is not recorded unless the host turns recording on (and everyone sees a badge), and you can delete everything with one button. Many of our members have family in Afghanistan — we treat privacy as a safety issue, not a legal checkbox.
Your email, display name, and the city/languages you choose to share. Optional profile photo and bio. Technical basics (device type, crash logs) to keep the service running. That's the list.No phone contacts upload. No precise location — city is self-declared and can be anything. No government ID, ever. Guests can participate with just a display name and no email at all.Live stages are not recorded by default and audio is never stored. If a host enables recording (a Pro feature), a visible 🔴 REC badge appears for everyone in the room before it starts. Text messages in public rooms are retained so the community has a history; you can delete your own messages at any time.Public rooms are public. Private rooms are visible only to invited members. Your DMs are visible only to you and the recipient. Moderators reviewing a report see only the reported message and its immediate context — never your DMs.No data sales, no ad targeting based on your conversations, no sharing with data brokers. AfgChat is funded by Pro subscriptions — you are the customer, not the product.We store data with providers in the EU and Canada. We require valid legal process from those jurisdictions, we notify affected users unless legally barred, and we publish a yearly transparency report. We hold no data centers in, and honor no requests from, jurisdictions where doing so could endanger our members.Profile → Settings → Delete account.
